Spring Time in West Lothian
With spring almost upon us, make sure you plan some exciting things to do over the holidays!
As always, Almond Valley Heritage Centre is a great option for the family around Easter time. They have got a packed programme of fun happening from Saturday 2nd April – Monday 25th April. Kids will be thrilled to meet all the new additions at Almond Valley including lambs and baby chicks. While you are here you can hunt for hidden eggs and crack the clues in the springtime trail. Over the Easter weekend (22nd – 25th April) there will be even more fun things to do, including the famous plastic duck race along the mill lade!
Go Ape – If you’re up for swinging through the trees then Go Ape is the place for you. This tree top adventure offers a fantastic day out for families with slightly older kids. Opening times over Easter are: Saturday 2nd - Sunday 24th April, Monday 25th April – Friday 27th May (closed Wednesdays & Thursdays)
Bring the kids to Blackness Castle on either the 8th or 9th of April to see a fantastic Medieval Construction Science Show! It will involve 4 free shows each day. The shows are free but normal admission prices to the Castle apply. Shows take place at 11am, 12noon, 1.30 pm and 2.30 pm
Have fun with West Lothian Leisure this Easter. Head to any of our local leisure centres to take part in a whole host of fun activities that will appeal to all younger age groups – from babies to teens. The fun takes place from 8th – 25th of April and includes space bugs, Snag golf and dance xtreme!
Easter Fun Day at Five Sisters Zoo – why don’t you head along to Five Sisters Easter Fun Day on Easter Sunday, 24th April, from 10am! You will love taking part in the traditional egg hunt as well as all the other fun things to see and do!
There is loads happening at Hopetoun House throughout April. From egg decoration, guided walks and other egg related activities – you’ll have lots of fun in the beautiful surroundings of Hopetoun.
The Vue Cinema – Why not treat the family to a great kids movies over Easter, including Hop and A Turtle’s Tale! You can also treat the kids on a budget by going to Kids AM on Saturday and Sunday mornings, when kids & adults pay £1 a ticket!
Linlithgow Canal Centre – The fantastic canal centre reopens for the summer period on the Easter weekend! The centre will be open on the Friday, Saturday and Monday (from 2 – 5pm). Activities will include the first boat cruises of the year, the Edinburgh Model Boat Club demonstration on Saturday the 23rd and the tearoom and musum will be open as usual!
There is lots of outdoor fun to be had in our 3 Country Parks this Easter. Here are 2 of their events:
1. Monday 11th – Friday 15th April 9am – 4.30pm is Ranger Environmental Activity Week at Beecraigs Country Park! This involves 5 days of fun-packed outdoor activities for children. Cost £75 – Phone Beecraigs for more information. Tel 01506 844 516.
2. Tuesday 19 April 2pm – 3.30pm – Explorer tour in Polkemmet Country Park. Join a Ranger on a guided tour of the west side of the Park, looking at history, wildlife, recreation and conservation. Sorry, not suitable for pushchairs. Booking advised. Tel. 01506 743 905.
