Press Release: Edinburgh Fringe in Livingston!
This August, Livingston Designer Outlet has teamed up with ‘Shakespeare for Breakfast’, a year-on-year hit at internationally acclaimed arts festival the Edinburgh Fringe, to costume performers and stage a pop up preview show at the centre.
‘Shakespeare for Breakfast’ is one of the Edinburgh Fringe’s longest running performances currently in their 21st sell-out year. The show is a daily breakfast romp with a witty and unique take on Shakespeare. This year’s show- subtitled ‘The Only Way is Little Venice’- is a riotous look at Romeo and Juliet. In the meantime the audience can relax back with free coffee and croissants. With a satirical take on some of this year’s most popular television programmes such as ‘Made in Chelsea’ and ‘The Only Way Is Essex’, the show is guaranteed to cause a comedic stir amongst the audience.
Livingston Designer Outlet will be collaborating with the production to dress the cast for the duration of the Edinburgh Fringe which runs from the 1st-27th August. Cast members will perform in modern dress from the centre’s range of fashion and designer brands such as Ted Baker, Karen Millen and L.K. Bennett.
To offer Fringe Festival goers a sneak preview, the production will also be relocating to the centre on Thursday 23rd August for a pop up show at 6pm.
Karen Stewart, Centre Manager at Livingston Designer Outlet says: “It is such a privilege for McArthur Glen Livingston to host a renowned Fringe production at the outlet. With temporary units available at the centre, there is no better way to utilise this free space than by creating something fun for shoppers to enjoy. It’s an honour to dress the cast for their 4-week stint at the Fringe and also to be able to bring the Fringe to the centre for a day.”
Hartley Kemp, Producer of Shakespeare for Breakfast and Artistic Director of C venue says: “C theatre are delighted to be working with such a huge range of designer and fashion brands at the centre, there is a variety of clothes and accessories for the cast to perform in. Performing at the centre will also provide a great opportunity to open our show to new audiences who have yet to encounter ‘Shakespeare for Breakfast’ and what we are all about”.
The C theatre performance is the first pop-up theatre show to take place at Livingston this year- highlighting the excellent home-grown talent that Scotland has to offer.
