Press Release: The Centre Holds Retailer Of The Year Awards
The Centre, Livingston recognised its top performing staff during a prestigious ceremony at its first ever Retailer of the Year Awards last week (June 13th).
The awards which took place at The Wintergarden area of the mall presented coveted accolades to key retailers for their contribution and going beyond the call of duty over the last year.
The general public, colleagues and centre management staff voted for the people they felt shone in the customer service arena alongside long serving members of the mall’s workforce.
Centre Director, James Bailey was joined by Nicola Steele, Corporate Fundraising Manager for the Retail Trust who helped present the awards across seven categories.
Categories winners were:
- Store of the Year – New Look
- New store of the Year – Primark
- Contribution Award – Lush
- Team of the Year – Beaverbrooks
- Store Manager of the Year – Vicci Dunne, Wilkinsons
- Long Service Award – Ted Akil, Store Director, Specsavers Livingston
- Store Assistant of the Year – Jana Majors, Urban Decay, Debenhams
Ted Akil, director of The Centre’s Specsavers store said: “It was a complete surprise but also a real honour to receive The Centre’s Long Service Award. I would like to thank all of the people that took the time to nominate me, I am very touched.
“To be presented with this award is very special. It has been a great experience but I wouldn’t be here today if it wasn’t for all of the staff that work with me.
“The last 24 years have been quite a journey. I would just like to thank all of my staff and customers who have made my job so enjoyable.”
Vicci Dunne, from Wilkinsons said: “I was thrilled to win Store Manager of the Year at the ceremony. Many thanks to everyone who voted for me, it’s great to see The Centre’s appreciation for its staff. “
Centre director James Bailey said: “I was delighted to hold the first Centre Retailer Awards last week. It’s a rewarding part of my job to be able to recognise the hard work and dedication from our people in the shopping centre.
“I would also like to offer my sincere congratulations to each and every winner across the seven categories. In some cases, when the votes were counted, it was a very close call.
“As the first awards were such a success, we hope this will become an annual event so please be sure to vote again next year.
“This is a great opportunity for us to give something back to our retailers to ensure their efforts in making The Centre a great place to work and to shop is not going unnoticed.”
