Spectacular Jousting Event in Linlithgow Palace - July 5 & 6
A medieval maiden, played by model Patricia Taylor, prepares silk ribbon tokens for her knight in advance of this weekend’s jousting tournament at Linlithgow Palace.
On Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th July Linlithgow Palace and Peel will provide the backdrop to a spectacular display of horsemanship and skill as knights battle it out to be crowned champion.
Initially designed to provide a training forum for young knights, jousts latterly evolved into a source of entertainment and a showground for the Knightly code of chivalry, with tokens - such as ribbons - often handed to knights by ladies to bring them luck during the match.
