Barbara Dickson Plays in Linlithgow
On Saturday May 23rd, the legendary songstress, BARBARA DICKSON makes a welcome return to Linlithgow for the Folk Festival's Gala Spring Concert.
Barbara Dickson emerged from the Folk revival of the 1960s and has become the biggest-selling Scottish female artiste of all time.
Known to a wider audience in the 1970s and 1980s, with hits including Answer Me, Another suitcase in another hall, The Caravan Song and I know him so well, she enjoyed ten years of chart success as a pop star.
As an actress, she has appeared in award-winning theatre productions John, Paul, George, Ringo and Bert, and Spend, Spend, Spend. In Willy Russell’s Blood Brothers, she was the original Mrs Johnstone and the author’s muse.
Barbara has returned to her roots once again, after a musical odyssey of 40 years creating music, playing guitar and piano, acting and song writing. In a new acoustic performance, Barbara and her pianist Nick Holland explore her catalogue of songs at an intimate level. The pair let the words and melodies take 'centre stage', as they perform a wonderful range of material, drawing on her folk roots, her latest exploration of the songs of Gerry Rafferty and some of her classic hit records.
Support will be by the Duncan McCrone Band, who are well known to Linlithgow audiences. Tickets for the Gala Concert on Friday May 23rd - priced £25 - can be bought from the box office at the Burgh Halls in Linlithgow Tel. 01506 282720 and are also available online at www.linlithgowfolk.yapsody.com
