About The Scottish Owl Centre – Polkemmet Country Park

See Owls from all over the world and enjoy the daily all-weather flying displays and Prof Hoot’s Owl School.  Also enjoy the Adventure Playground and Picnic area, all based in Polkemmet Country Park.

Now you can meet face-to-face the birds that you’ve only heard as a distant Twit-Twoo. From the giant Siberian Eagle Owl to the tiny Scops Owl you can learn about their habits and habitats and how to help in their conservation. Let these awesome creatures inspire you to make a difference.

Open Daily; March- October 10.30am -5.00pm.

Our Flying Displays take place each day at 11.30am, 1.30pm & 3.30pm.

During November & February opening hours are 11.30am – 4.00pm with Flying Displays at 12.30pm & 2.30pm.

How to get here:

By car: Leave the M8 at J4 and follow the yellow AA signs to the Scottish Owl Centre/Brown Signs to Polkemmet Country Park  (EH47 0AD).  You’ll find us on the B7066 halfway between Whitburn and Harthill.  Turn in when you see the Brown Sign to Polkemmet Country Park.  You can park in either of the carparks available, either directly beside the centre or in the overspill carpark.

By bus: Local bus routes through Whitburn and Harthill directly pass the Park entrance.  First Scotland East run a number of services that drop you off directly at the entrance to the Park:  The No. 22 (Edinburgh – Harthill service) goes via Livingston, from Bathgate get the No. 21 (Fauldhouse – Edinburgh service) and get off at Bathgate, from there get on the No. 701 (Livingston – Wishaw service) operated by Blue Bus.  From Linlithgow you can get the First Scotland East No. 34 (Broxburn – Bathgate service) and change at Bathgate, from there get the X14 (Bathgate – Glasgow service).

To access the Owl Centre you head through the main archway and into reception.  The playarea is on your left hand side.
