About Cairnpapple Hill

Situated on the summit of Cairnpapple Hill with stunning views over central Scotland, and as far as Goat Fell, on Arran, on a good day.   Visitors can see the henge monument as a good example of this rare class of Neolithic ceremonial monument and the concrete dome built to help display the Bronze-Age burials, and providing visitors with a good atmosphere in which to contemplate death and burial practice in the Bronze Age.

Opening times; Summer only (1 April-30 September) Monday,Tuesday,Friday and Sunday 9:30 am-5:30pm.

Guided tours are available Sunday and Monday, 9.30am, 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm (Limited to 15 people, advisable to book in advance)

Admission prices; Adult £4.00, Child £2.40 & Concession £3.20

Directions:

From Bathgate train station walk 6 minutes to Bathgate South Bridge Street at B’Wise. Take First Edinburgh bus no.474 (South Queensferry) to Torphicen, The Loan Rock Cottages- 8 minutes.

Walk 15 minutes to Cairnpapple Hills.
