Hopetoun is open daily from Easter to end of September.
Hopetoun House is a unique gem of Europe’s architectural heritage and undoubtedly ‘Scotland’s finest stately home’. Built over 300 years ago, it is the home of the Hope family and is lived in today by the current Earl and his young family.
The House is one of the most splendid examples of the work of Scottish architects Sir William Bruce and William Adam. Inside, you will see interiors from late Georgian through Edwardian, with much of the original decoration and a wonderful collection of pictures, furniture and other contents. You will find friendly and knowledgeable guides on hand, quiz sheets for children, special interests tours in various topics, and a rooftop viewing platform offering panoramic views.
You can also enjoy the numerous picnic spots, ranger centre exhibits, the red deer park, family workshops and guided walks. No visit is complete without a relaxing stroll through the 150 acres of parkland. There are several walks and trails including the spring garden walk, that is awash with daffodils in April; the sea walk trail with superb views over the deer park and the River Forth; and Hopes’ walk that in June is a mass of colour when the rhododendrons are in bloom.
Finally, our elegant tearoom serves a selection of snacks, light lunches and even champagne afternoon teas.
