National Chamber Music Day

    • Enterprise Music Scotland, the national body for chamber music, are promoting the concerts for National Chamber Music Day 2017.

      Saturday 16th of September will see chamber music ensembles performing free, impromptu concerts in public spaces across the country to celebrate chamber music in Scotland, and Manse Road Basin, Linlithgow has been selected as one of the venues.

      Linlithgow Union Canal Society are hosting a performance at Manse Road Basin, Linlithgow by Trio Vocalise to celebrate National Chamber Music Day from 2:30 pm ‘till 3:30pm on Saturday 16th September 2017.   No tickets are necessary, just come along and enjoy this free concert.

       

    • By Car

      From Edinburgh and the east leave the M9 at junction 3 and follow the A803 into Linlithgow. The Canal Basin is signposted from the roundabout at the east end of the High Street in Linlithgow. Take the B9080 towards Winchburgh. Immediately after going under the railway bridge at the lights turn sharp right up Back Station Road, 300 yards further on bear left over the canal bridge. The basin is on the right.

      From Falkirk and the north leave the M9 at junction 4 and follow the A803. Drive through the town to the roundabout at the east end of the High Street then proceed as above.

      From Glasgow and the west leave the M8 at junction 4 and follow the A706 into Linlithgow. Take the second exit from the roundabout onto the High Street and through the town to the roundabout at the east end of the High Street. Then take the B9080 towards Winchburgh. Immediately after going under the railway bridge at the lights turn sharp right up Back Station Road, 300 yards further on bear left over the canal bridge. The basin is on the right.

      From Carlisle and the south leave the M74 at junction 13. Follow the A73 into Lanark and join the A706 to Linlithgow then the same directions as from Glasgow (see above).

      By Bus
      Buses serve Linlithgow from Edinburgh, Stirling and many towns within West Lothian. Get off at the Star and Garter Hotel at the east end of the High Street and walk up past the station, under the railway bridge and the basin is on the far side of the canal, which faces you.

      By Train
      Linlithgow station is on the line from Edinburgh Waverly to Falkirk, Glasgow Queen Street and to Dunblane. Walk out of the station from the westbound platform, turn right into Back Station Road and the Canal Basin is 100 yards on the far side of the bridge.
