Press Release: Hopetoun Horse Trials Success!
The Gillespie Macandrew Horse Trials took place this weekend, July 28th and 29th, marking the start of the Olympic Games. Building on the success of last year, the Horse Trials were sure to incorporate plenty of Olympic spirit as more than 5,000 visitors attended.
Kicking off the weekend on Friday 27th July, Hopetoun House welcomed hundreds of families and local dignitaries to mark the launch of the London Olympics 2012. With the giant screens showcasing the impressive opening ceremony, visitors were treated to live music as well as shopping, children’s activities, fine food and drinks on the lawn.
Throughout Saturday and Sunday more than five hundred of the finest international riders provided a thrilling display of show jumping, dressage and cross-country on the grounds of Scotland’s finest stately home.
Pony Club games, children’s entertainment, off road driving displays, a festival of real ales and local produce from the Hopetoun Farm Shop provided just some of the great attractions that took place across the weekend.
Stuart Buntine, Event Director said “We have all enjoyed a great weekend of thrilling equestrianism as well as the delights of the Olympic fever, shopping, food and drink. With over 5,000 visitors coming through the gates at Hopetoun it has been another rousing success for all involved.”
With the olympic action being screened live during the weekend on the main lawn, Stuart commented, “Set against the backdrop of Hopetoun House with live action from London 2012, the Hopetoun Horse Trials provided one of the best locations in Scotland to soak up the Olympic atmosphere”.
