Things to do this Summer!

It’s that time of year again, the summer holidays are approaching and the sun is beginning to occasionally show it’s face. West Lothian is a great place to spend time in the summer, whether it is with your friends, family or that special someone. Here are just a few of the things that you can do in West Lothian while the summer is with us

Why not go wild at Almond Valley Heritage Centre- This summer long programme offers the chance for everybody ( kids and adults! ) the chance to experience the lives of our prehistoric ancestors in the great outdoors. Tasks that may be involved include;  helping with planting crops, tending to livestock and making clothing. A great day out for everybody involved!

Make some new friends at Five Sisters Zoo- why not take the day out and visit Five Sisters newest inhabitants Carmen, Peggy and Suzy. The three bears arrived at the zoo on the 29th March and can be seen in their beautiful woodland area home. The zoo has a fantastic selection of other animals to see and is a great educational day out for all ages.

The Linlithgow Canal Centre is open all summer and offers a number of great boat trips both during the week and at the weekends. There is also the chance on the 24th June, 29th July and 26th August to take a boat cruise to the world-famous Falkirk Wheel. This particular cruise is likely to prove very popular so make sure to get booking!

Experience owls from all over the world, up close and face-to-face at the Scottish Owl Centre-Polkemmet Country Park. Enjoy daily flying displays, have your photo taken with an owl or take advantage of the great adventure playground at this fantastic family friendly attraction.

If the weather takes a turn for the worst  this summer make the most of our fantastic indoor shopping venues The Centre, Livingston and Livingston Designer Outlet where you can shop to your hearts content while being sheilded from the elements. However if the weather is permitting why not take advantage of one of our great outdoor Garden Centres or go for a wander around one of our traditional town centres.

There are lots of fun outdoor activities that you can take part in across West Lothian such as Cycling, Fishing and Walking
