December has snuck up on us once again (oh how time flies!) which means its that time of year again, so you better start dusting off those decorations, preparing your feast for the big day and writing that never ending list of Christmas Cards.
December is going to be a very busy month so make sure that you dont miss out on all the great events and activities that West Lothian have to offer this Christmas time.
This December will kick off with some yuletide fun in the Bathgate Town Centre as they switch on their Christmas lights, there will be face painting, Carol singing, bouncy castles and kids will be able to visit Santa in his workshop.
For all your important Christmas shopping needs stay away from the rush of the city and hit the stores at The Centre Livingston and the Livingston Designer Outlet, this indoor shopping experience will protect you from the wintry weather whilst giving you access to the best brands, latest styles in high street fashion and much much more. While you’re here why not try something a bit different and visit the Christmas Market and Fun Fair in the Civic Square which will be running from the end of November right through to Christmas Eve.
What better way to get in to the Christmas spirit that joining in some panto fun? Cinderella will be showing at both the Bathgate Regal Theatre (1st-9th Dec) and The Howden Park Centre (11th-24th Dec). Expect sing-along songs, slapstick, mayhem and a magical Christmas show like no other.
Go Christmas crackers and make your own Christmas decorations at the Family Christmas Craft Workshop at Hopetoun House on the 15th December. Materials will be provided along with minnce pies, refreshments and Christmas music.
Step out in to the winter wonderland and accompany the Ranger at Beecraigs country park as he feeds the reindeer their magic food in preparation for their busy work period. Booking is essential as places fill up very quickly. Walks take place on the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of December.
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without a visit to see Santa Claus and this year there are lots of great chances to see the big man himself across West Lothian.
Meet Santa at Almond Valley every weekend in December in his farmyard cottage, receive an early Christmas present, join in crafts, meet the animals and enjoy the magic of a traditional Christmas.
Santa will also be at Five Sisters Zoo every weekend in December where you will be able to visit him in his Winter Wonderland and every child will receive a gift and a free child zoo entry voucher valid for 6 months.
Finally, you will be able to visit Santa in his grotto at the Linlithgow Canal Centre on the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of December. This will include a gift and a short cruise on the canal with mums,dads or grandparents.
For those days when you dont wan’t to spend much time outside, then why not head to the Vue Cinema and get yourself in the Christmas mood with films such as Nativity 2 and Rise of the Guardians.
