We had another successful Networking Event here at Visit West Lothian!
After a spell of heavy snow at the end of February made it necessary for us to reschedule our Spring Networking Event, the day was still a success three weeks later. Visit West Lothian was delighted to welcome a range of delegates from a variety of attractions and accommodation providers in the local and surrounding area for a chance to update one another on their business activity and make connections and new contacts.
Hosted at the remarkable Jupiter Artland, the offered spectacular views across the surrounding forestry and country land, it was a cosy and comfortable space with a beautiful aesthetic. We had two delegates from Langasm who set up a virtual reality experience for everyone to try out throughout the day. For many who were brave enough to try it, it was their first ever shot at a VR game, and they absolutely loved it. We’d like to thank Langasm especially for bringing their equipment along sharing the experience!
Our event kicked off with a presentation from Anna Young, giving an update on Visit West Lothian including the latest economic impact figures in the tourism sector and highlighting the positive work of our new attractions group is currently being developed. Anna’s presentation was followed by a presentation from Helen Eragona, the marketing and communications manager at the host destination, Jupiter Artland. Helen told us a brief history of Jupiter Artland and detailed some of the specific artworks that have been sculpted and displayed there, as well as showing us some insiring and informative video content. Our third and final presentation was given by Alasdair Maclauchlan, the industry relationship manager from VisitScotland. Alasdair was kind enough to brief all of the delegates on how their business can get the most out of VisitScotland and the services they offer, including business toolkits and information on travel trade.
Next we heard from all of our attendees who shared their own business news and plans for the season ahead.
Afterwards came the opportunity to network over a lovely lunch provided by MILK catering who served a fantastic platter of sandwiches along with fresh juices. We would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff at MILK for working with us. The afternoon concluded with a 30 minute tour of Jupiter Artland with Helen who told us interesting facts about each of the sculptures we saw in the grounds.
We would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for coming to our networking event, especially in light of the rescheduled date. We hope all of the delegates had an enjoyable afternoon and met some useful contacts, and we look forward to our next one!
