The story of public art in West Lothian has been brought to life with a new publication that illustrates the development of public art and West Lothian in the modern age.
The new book entitled ‘Out in the Open’, showcases a selection of 58 artworks across the county and also provides an insight into the history and identity of each artwork and its local area.
This fully illustrated book demonstrates how access to the arts can enhance people’s well-being through improving their experience of the built and natural environment, while creating opportunities to access and share their heritage through the arts.
The initial publication will take two forms; a downloadable e-version and a limited edition printed hard back book – available to purchase at various outlets including; Howden Park Centre, Linlithgow Burgh Halls and the National Galleries of Scotland shop.

In addition to the book they have also created a shorter itinerary around Livingston, which takes you around 10 important public artworks around town.
This short little walk can easily be incorporated in a shopping spree or a coffee break, so why not download the e-version and take it with you, you never know when you’ll be able to enjoy a nice walk in the sun!
