3D Printing Course

10 Year Jupiter Artland Logo
    • A one-day course which allows children to engage with technology in innovative ways.

Many children love technology. Why not feed that love in a creative, productive environment, perfectly balancing indoor and outdoor pursuits? This one-day course allows children to engage with Jupiter Artland as well as with technology in a new way.

They are introduced to 3D printing techniques before going out to explore the Artland, woodlands, landscape and sculptures. They then come back the Woodland classroom and experiment with 3D printing pens to create their own sculptures and interpret the art they engaged with outside. Any artwork created can of course be taken home.

This course is run in conjunction with Denise Allan who runs ‘Wee Replicators’, a 3D printing education service. She is a PhD candidate at Edinburgh Napier University, currently researching the use of 3D printing technology in education and how this can improve communication and trust within communities.

      • Travelling by car
      • Travelling to Jupiter is easy and we're only 25 minutes from the centre of Edinburgh. If you are using satellite navigation, be warned you will end up in the middle of a field upsetting our very patient neighbours.

PLEASE do follow our instructions on the internet, there is only one entrance to Jupiter and that is via the B7015

        Travelling by bus

There is a direct bus from central Edinburgh and the journey takes 35 minutes. The number 27 and X27 First bus leaves from Edinburgh (Regent Rd) or from Dalry Road, Haymarket.

After you have gone through Wilkieston the bus will take a right hand turn onto the B7015 to East Calder. Twenty yards after the turn onto the B7015 the gates to Jupiter Artland are on the right after Ashbank House.

The bus driver will stop at a bus stop called Coxydene/Jupiter Artland 50 yards further on. They have gone too far if they get to Camps industrial estate.
